Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Research jewellery materials
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
  • Identify materials typically used in jewellery construction and their uses
  • Identify and access credible sources of information about jewellery materials
  • Identify specialist expertise available to confirm uses and quality of materials
       
Element: Select materials for jewellery construction
  • Select material options based on research
  • Use basic testing to assess quality and purity of materials
  • Determine costing implications of using different materials
  • Select final materials according to design, work and quality requirements
       
Element: Apply safe work practices in handling materials

Assessment Tasks
